Services Provided

Campus Services, Operations & Maintenance

  • Custodial Services

  • Custodial activities include: cleaning of floors, restrooms, white boards, windows, carpets, curtains; trash removal; polishing and waxing of office room floors and hard surface floors. The custodial staffs are also responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of the residential apartments owned by the University.


  • Moves

  • For relocation of office or classroom furniture, the facilities and maintenance director receives a memo from the department head and the appropriate person is assigned to perform the task.


  • Special Events

  • Many events take place on campus; graduation ceremony, founder’s day, anniversaries, student life events, exhibitions, cultural hours, lectures, entrance examinations, Therefore, the department typically equips all the required facilities for these events including, preparing the stage, providing chairs, tables, lighting, audio and video, backstage poster, arranging the parking location


  • Deliveries and Recyclables

  • This service includes postal service, delivering stationery, invitation cards for events, etc., and picking up recyclables to send them to the cleaning services company. Student assistants also perform delivering tasks on campus whenever required.


  • Grounds

  • Grounds maintenance, in addition to custodial services, includes emptying outdoor trash containers, cut grass, remove leaves, and maintain trees, flowers. Grounds also plants new trees and plants.

  • Carpentry

  • The shop is responsible for repairing office furniture, cabinets, and assembling items. It also builds wood and metal desks and performs other carpentry tasks as needed.

  • Keys & Locks

  • Responsible for maintaining all keys, tracking these and installing key locks. In case of key loss, the responsible person must pay a penalty fee of 5,000 LBP to the cashier and provide the receipt to the Facilities Director in order to get a replacement key.


  • Signs

  • Responsible for nameplates and signage on campus. The process for requesting a sign is the same as for all other work requests.


  • Security

  • The security department is comprised of the head of security and four guards. Two guards are available every day of the week from 7 am till 3 pm and the second shift is from 3 pm till 11 pm. The main functions of the security is to provide a safe environment through monitoring the two entrances to the University, checking students’ ID on entry, recording and directing visitors to the appropriate offices, monitoring the premises through installed cameras and patrolling the University’s premises, following up on vandalism and theft within the University premises.


  • Electrical Systems, Plumbing Systems, Heating/Air Conditioning Systems

  • Major maintenance and heavy construction and/or renovation are usually outsourced to professional companies and/or contractors. On-campus operations include maintaining water piping, sewers and drains, monitoring water pressure, maintaining drinking fountains , changing filters, sending the water for testing to a laboratory and taking precautions for roof leaks. Concerning electrical work, operations include installing wall switches, light fixtures and bulbs, data and telephone wiring. Also ensuring that fire extinguishers are maintained.
