Borrowing from the Library

When using library facilities, students, faculty, staff and visitors must present their corresponding Haigazian ID cards. ID cards must not be lent to anyone.

To facilitate the smooth circulation of books and related material, the following rules and regulations are formulated.

Barsumian library

Students

Undergraduates may borrow a maximum of 5 books at a time for a period of two weeks (renewable). Graduates may borrow up to 10 books at a time for a period of two weeks (renewable).

Faculty

Full timers may borrow 20 books for 1 semester (renewable).
Part timers may borrow 10 books for 1 semester (renewable).

Staff

Staff may borrow a maximum of 5 books at a time for a period of two weeks (renewable). 

Derian Armenological library

Students/ Faculty/ Staff

Same rules as Barsumian Library.

Haigazian Armenological Review editors

Editors may borrow a maximum  of 3 books at a time for a period of two weeks (renewable).

Fine:

The fine for an overdue book item is 1500 LL/item/day, weekends and holidays are counted out. Lost books incur 150% of the list price of the book.
Overdue notices may be sent either via phone or e-mail.

Journals, newspapers and bound periodicals

Journals

Journals are available to students for research purposes; not to be checked out. They can be borrowed by the president and faculty for a period of 5 days.

Newspapers

Newspapers are available to students; not to be checked out.

Bound periodicals

Bound periodicals are available for all; not to be checked out.

Maps

Maps may be checked out of the library by the faculty for a period of one week (renewable).

Audio visual material (videos, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, microfiches)

Full time faculty

Full time faculty can borrow 10 items for a period of two weeks (renewable).

Part time faculty

Part time faculty can borrow 5 items for a period of two weeks (renewable).

Students

Students may use items in the library only.

Reference books and theses

Reference books and theses can only be used in the library.

Rare books (Closed Circulation – C.C.)

Rare books cannot be checked out of the library.

Alumni

Alumni may borrow books from the libraries upon presenting their HU library cards which may be obtained from the librarian by paying 125,000LL (refundable) and a yearly subscription fee of 25,000LL (not refundable).
Alumni may borrow 2 books simultaneously from both libraries for a period of two weeks (renewable).

Registered users

Researchers, not affiliated with Haigazian University, who wish to benefit from the libraries’ resources should present their requests to the librarian and if accepted, must fill out an application form and pay an annual subscription fee of 25,000LL. Registered users may use library resources in-house only.
