Around 200 students followed a thorough three-day-orientation program at Haigazian University, a program designed to introduce new students to all aspects of university life, be it academic, communal, spiritual and social, thus, ensuring a smooth transition from school to University life.
A required course in nature, the Orientation Program includes crashed sessions on Academics, Research, Haigazian Culture, Information Technology, Spiritual Life, Time Management, Conflict Resolution, and Self-Awareness, specially designed by a professional team of faculty and administrative staff.
The program kicked off on Thursday, September 12, with the greeting words and blessings of Campus Minister, Rev. Bruce Schoup, who, through an engaging story, invited students to be open to a changing world.
University President, Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, emphasized on the vital role of Haigazian University in unifying all differences under one project, that of Education. He further advised students to be as focused as possible, despite all negative events surrounding them.
For her part, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Arda Ekmekji explained to the new recruits the concept of Liberal Arts education, as a system providing students with a complete rounded education. Giving a quick glance on the Haigazian motto, Truth, Freedom and Service, Ekmekji concluded that what binds the world together, is Humanity.
Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, Dr. Fadi Asrawi, presented the Haigazian community as caring and reachable, thus pushing students to network with faculty, staff and fellow students. Moreover, Asrawi confidently claimed that Haigazian will prepare them to be the leaders of the future.
Registrar Anahid Fermanian provided the students with academic announcements and policies and procedures, after which Alumnus and current HU Senior Network Analyst, Shant Estepan, shared his experience of University years. Giving a theme to his address, “You Belong”, Estepan invited students to be involved in University Life and make the utmost out of their four-year journey.
In conclusion, Orientation Program Director, Dr. Traboulsi thanked all participants and students assistants for their relentless efforts towards the success of this program, sharing with the new comers some general and useful advices to succeed managing their university life
Over the next two days, all new comers enjoyed a fellowship brunch with faculty and staff.
