On Thursday, December 12, 2013, during a significantly cold Beirut night, the Haigazian University Christmas Tree was lit in the Mugar Garden, amongst a crowd of faculty, staff, and friends of the University.
The event, jointly organized by the Haigazian Women’s Book Club ladies, was the perfect opportunity to declare the lucky winners of the raffle which raised $20,000 in support of scholarship funds.
In her welcoming note, Public Relations Director, Mira Yardemian acknowledged the unwavering efforts of the auxiliary ladies, who wholeheartedly worked to achieve above result. She also thanked all the artists you generously donated beautiful paintings towards this raffle.
After the draw, President Haidostian shared with the audience the real meaning of Christmas, and the birth of Jesus Christ. He emphasized on the vital need of fundraising, thanking the auxiliary ladies for their special contribution.
Then, on the sound of “Oh Christmas Tree“ , the crowd proceeded to the Mugar Garden, where, after a short prayer of blessing, in an atmosphere of joy and cheer, President Haidostian lit the beautiful Christmas tree.
The event was musically animated by Haigazian students, Nanor Madjarian, and Michael and John Shabo.
