The Haigazian University Actors Club performed Ray Cooney’s “Funny Money”, a comedy play which premièred at the Der Melkonian Theatre in Bourj Hamoud, on May the 2nd, 2014, followed by a successful two day run.
The hilarious comedy which hit the stage featured seven students with a great passion for acting, all working assiduously since mid-October, 2013, practicing twice per week, together with their play director Zeinab Assaf.
The story of Henry Perkins, accidentally swapping his own briefcase with someone else’s, full of money, drives him and his wife, together with their friends, the Johnsons, into a storm of events, all of which told brilliantly and constructed nicely, with the help of the Set and Stage Coordinator, Raafat Belally, and Project Supervisor, Chukri Charbetji. The Director, Zeinab Assaf, brought a Lebanese touch to the play by adding Arabic scenes into the play.
It was blatantly obvious from the reactions of the audience that the play was extremely well-received. Around 300 people came to see the play, which brought a great deal of accomplishment and motivation to the actors on stage.
