First USP cohort graduates in 2014

Five Haigazian University students within the University Scholarship Program (USP) funded by the United States Agency International Development (USAID) graduated in Spring 2013-2014. The Fifty-Fourth Commencement Exercises were held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 7PM at Haigazian University.  This group demonstrated excellent academic performance; four out of five graduated with honors, three of those with high honors. In addition, one of the graduating USP students, Enas Hassan, was chosen as the valedictorian and delivered a speech in Arabic on behalf of her peers. In her speech, she recounted her experience as a student at Haigazian University and the assets she gained during her journey for her future career, such as knowledge of many cultures, and interactions with students from diverse backgrounds. She thanked USAID for having granted her the opportunity to study in the high-level private institution that is Haigazian University.
Graduates all left university with a future career plan. Enas Hasan has been accepted at the American University of Beirut (AUB) medical school; Emile El Ghoul will complete a masters in Pathology in Canada; Nour Al Hassanieh was accepted to a Master’s program in Mathematics at the AUB on a full scholarship; Lama Wehbi plans to work in Business Administration in Aley, and Fadwa Farhat is emigrating to Canada to apply for a Master’s program.
In the upcoming year, a much larger group of about 32 students will complete their studies and will join these 5 outstanding graduates in the newly created USP HU alumni association, which will work on organizing activities, networking, fostering alumni relations,  and providing job opportunities.
