The Center for Continuing Education (CCE) at Haigazian University Celebrates the Harvest of the year 2014
On Friday, October 17, 2014, thirty-two students celebrated their completion of various programs from the CCE, during a ceremony which took place in the Heritage Building Garden at Haigazian University.
The diverse programs covered the fields of Special Education, School Coordinators and Division Heads, the 21st Century Teacher, Talent Management, Human Resources, and Project Management.
In his welcoming word, CCE Director Sebouh Gurunlian, underlined the importance of providing students with the right “tools and knowledge” in order to serve the Lebanese Community. He further expressed his gratitude and satisfaction towards students’ achievements claiming that “perseverance, motivation, self-discipline, sacrifice and faith in the future” is seen in them.
In his keynote address, guest speaker, M.P Jean Oghassabian, praised the Lebanese workforce’s qualifications. “It is their commitment to learn, advance and grow that makes the Lebanese students among the most highly qualified and demanded profiles across the Globe,” Oghasabian noted.
He concluded his speech by sharing some thoughts on motivation, creativity and innovation, stressing on the importance of setting goals and doing the proper planning to achieve them. “The real value of setting goals, is not the recognition or reward, it’s the person we become by finding the discipline, courage, and commitment to achieve them”, Oghasabian said.
In his congratulatory remarks, University President, Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian considered learning an “ongoing curiosity and openness”, emphasizing on the fact that “continuous learning alone can guarantee a move forward in life”, Haidostian considered that compulsory education is a “minimum requirement” for a person to be able to stand up. “But for a person to walk, he or she needs to go beyond the mandatory. How long in age does one pursue learning and relearning, that determines the quality of life and work they will enjoy. And this has no end”, Haidostian noted.
The program concluded with small reception.
