On June 18, 2014, Haigazian University Art Center, organized a collective art exhibition entitled “Kessab in our Hearts”, as a fundraising initiative in support of Kessab Relief.
Around 39 artists, with 51 artworks participated in this show, generously donating their paintings and sculptures for this emergent cause.
In his welcoming address, University President, Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, underlined the historical importance of the town of Kessab, noting that “some Armenian presence there may even go back to Tigran the Great in the 1st century BC, but certainly since the days of the Armenian Cilician Kingdom in the 13th century or so, this beautiful mountainous region (for some the Casa Bella) has been home to a constant Armenian population. In this sense, Kessab has been historical home to the Armenians, with a distinct dialect.”
Haidostian expressed his gratitude towards the artists and all those who encouraged this exhibition, stating that funds raised will be allocated to scholarships for prospective students from Kessab who are already planning to study at Haigazian University, as well as to the reconstruction of the town, through the joint committee of the Kessab community.
