Beirut, 30/07/08- On Wednesday the 16th of July 2008, Haigazian University Armenological Review's 28th volume was launched, in the presence of the President of the Union of the Armenian Evangelical Churches in the Near East, Rev. Megrdich Karagoezian, Member of Parliament, Dr. Yeghia Jerejian, Haigazian University President, Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, and a big number of community intellectuals.
The program opened with the welcoming words of the Review's Executive Secretary, Antranig Dakessian, who highlighted on the multifaceted aspect of the Review''s editorial team, stressing on the importance of team work.
Editor in Chief, Father Antranig Granian considered the 28th volume as a major achievement. Granian considered that intellectual issues were always appreciated and conducted by minorities, and due to this minority, Armenology will continue and persevere.
Keynote speaker, Varti Keshishian, a prominent name in Armenology, presented the contents of the volume, noting that the review always highlights a topic or issue that is of high interest to the Armenian community. In this issue of particular subject was the question of the modern conversational and written Western Armenian, which tends to be distorted. Keshishian suggested to establish an Armenian Diaspora ''fortress'' to safeguard the Western Armenian language.
In his concluding remarks, President Haidostian considered the Armenological Review as a major accomplishment of the University. Haidostian said that current issues on the Armenian identity are considered with utmost priority at Haigazian University.
Finally President Haidostian and Father Granian cut the celebratory cake, and the audience had look at the most recent acquisitions of the Armenian Library, specially exhibited for the occasion.
