“Colors of Time”: The Recent Works of HRAIR at Haigazian University

On Friday, October 30, 2009, opened the painting exhibition of Hrair, entitled “Colors of Time”, at the Haigazian University Art Center, Matossian Gallery.

Hrair, who gets inspired from the Byzantine iconography, and the history of the Armenian miniature art, once again reached his highest point, showing to the public his mastery. Over 20 paintings featuring Hrair’s marvelous icons of gold and purple, in addition to the strong and expressive horses, were on display to the viewers.

Also inspired by Armenian music, Hrair’s art imposes itself by its harmony, balance and stability, and thus lies on the undefined frontiers, “where painting and music come together”, as described by the artist.

Born in Lebanon, and graduated from the Academie Libanaise des Beaux Arts, Hrair is the recipient of several gold medals, such as the Sursock Museum Gold Medal in Beirut in 1965, the Golden Medal of the City of Rome, in Italy, in 1971, and the Prize of the European Excellency, in Paris, in 1989. He has conducted over 50 solo exhibitions worldwide, and his private collections include many kings and stars, such as, Queen Elizabeth II of England, Kings Fahed and Faisal Bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, King Hussein of Jordan, Prince Rainier of Monaco, Jacqueline K. Onassis, Kirk Douglas, Anthony Quinn, Liza Minelli, and many others.

“Colors of Time”, is in course till November 10, 2009.
