Arame Art Gallery Exhibits Recent Works of 11 Armenian Artists at Haigazian University
On the occasion of Haigazian University’s 55th Anniversary on Thursday, June 10, 2010, the painting exhibition of 11 Armenian artists opened at the Haigazian University Art Center, Matossian Gallery. The opening had a large and distinguished attendance including the Indian Ambassador, the Ambassor of the Czech Republic, the First Consul of Armenia, religious representatives, artists, art collectors and art lovers.
The exhibition featured the original paintings of Ruben Abovian, Sarkis Hamalbashian, Armen Gevorgian, Gabriel Manoukian (Gabo), TIgran Matulian, Kayts Vanikian, Marat Margarian, Tigran Barkhanajian, Gaspar Melkonian, Emil Kazaz and the lithographs of the renowned French Armenian artist Jansem.
The 60 paintings were provided by the Arame Art Gallery -Yerevan, Armenia, the most prominent private art gallery in the country which attracts art collectors, famous actors and other public figures from around the world. The founder and General Manager of the gallery, art critic Aram Sargsyan , was present at the opening. He thanked Haigazian University for the honor of exhibiting hi gallery’s collection, and for taking part of the University’s 55th Anniversary celebrations..
The rich and eclectic collection of these modern artists ranges from the surrealist and abstract colorful Gabo paintings that feature his highly imaginative creatures to the world-renowned sketch-like lithographs of Jansem.
The artists, all originally from Armenia, have exhibited their paintings in different parts of the world including the United States, France, Japan and Armenia. Some have their permanent collections in the most prestigious museums of Armenia.
The Arame Art Gallery exhibition is in course till June 24, 2010.
