Haigazian University held its annual commencement for the In-service Teacher Training Program on June 24th, 2011, among an audience of relatives, friends and colleagues of graduates.
Eleven teachers who currently teach in eight different schools received the In-service Teacher Training Certificate from the hands of Rev. Paul Haidostian, president of Haigazian University. He also presented diplomas to four school coordinators, the first graduates of the new ‘Diploma for Coordinators and Division Heads’ program.
The guest speaker, Dr. Chris Moacdieh, principal of the Christian Teaching Institute (CTI), observed that some people undertake training for promotion, money, or job-switching. However, these graduates have generally undertaken these educational programs for other reasons – for self-improvement in the area of teaching skills and knowledge and because of an understanding that knowledge is not finite, it is always expanding, and they have to be part of this continuing education.
