Haigazian University President, Dr. Paul Haidostian and the Board of Trustees are privileged to honor Mrs. Joyce Philibosian Stein at a banquet on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Sheraton Universal Hotel,  6p.m. Social Hour and Dinner 7p.m.
The celebratory evening will focus on Mrs. Stein’s life as she is fulfilling her father’s legacy as Chair of the Philibosian Foundation. Her father, Steven Philibosian, being a young immigrant to New York from Hadjin, successfully built an Oriental rug business. He formed a foundation to serve the Armenian people through the Armenian Missionary Association of America, AMAA. He, was also one of the founders of HaigazianUniversity fifty-five years ago–the only Armenian university outside of the Soviet Union.
While living in Philadelphia Mrs. Stein was active in her community involvement and philanthropy by being a member of the support committee and personal friend of Maestro Eugene Ormandy of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She became a major fundraiser for the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, serving as chair of the “Daisy Day Fund”  and persuading Presidents Eisenhower and Reagan to be  Honorary Chairs. Most recently, she has supported the Reagan Library in Simi, California
After moving to Los Angeles with her family, she served as President of the Los Angeles Women’s Auxiliary for over ten years.   Her many connections in the art and music-world afforded the Auxiliary to hold extraordinarily successful fundraising events—realizing over one million dollars for scholarships to deserving Armenian students at HaigazianUniversity.
Joyce and Pesa Joe, her devoted husband of  58 years, are a couple  to be admired.  Joe says that he is an “Armenian by Choice”. They find great joy in serving their communities together, wherever they are. They, with their two daughters, Stephanie Landes and Tina Segel, along with husbands Michael and David, and their six grandchildren, are totally committed to the Philibosian Foundation’s outreach. The family Patriarch, Stephen Philibosian and mother Sirpuhe would be rightfully proud.
All are invited to attend this joyous event. For banquet information, call Joyce Abdulian 323-654-8031 or joyceabdulian@gmail.com
