Environmental Club
(Founded 1980)
Definition: The Club is dedicated to environmental issues. It creates occasions to improve the environment through activities such as planting trees, beautifying the HU campus, cleaning the seashore and supporting other environmental clubs. The Club organizes hiking, camping, and recycling activities on campus as well as in schools, as well as visits to nature reserves and parks.
Objectives: To promote awareness and care for the environment and to experience nature intimately.
Past Achievements: Recently, the Club launched an anti-smoking campaign and planted trees; taught paper-recycling in several schools; posted awareness posters in schools and universities concerning agriculture and sustainable development; conducted the healthy potable water project in Beirut, organized a general knowledge contest, a juice and a Tabouleh Day and joined in several inter-university environmental activities.
Upcoming Events: The Club will be organizing a car wash day, cleaning the seashore, holding a national vegetable sale day and a harvesting picnic.
