Martial Arts Club
(Founded 2002)
Definition: The Club represents martial arts at Haigazian University and participates in local and international tournaments as well as in inters- university tournaments.
Objectives: To enhance self-defense, self-confidence and discipline, to participate in local and international tournaments and obtain commendable results, to establish contacts with other teams, and to organize group outings as a means of socializing.
Guidelines: The Team practices twice a week in the Roof Sports Hall of the Philibosian Student Center. An instructor/coach trains the Club twice a week. A member can miss a maximum of 2 practice sessions per month.
Structure/Membership: Every current HU student, faculty and staff, physically fit and free of any health problems, is entitled to join the team.
Past Achievements: Being the first and the only University registered since 2002 in the Lebanese Federation of Kickboxing Sevate (LFKS), the Club has achieved commendable results in the Lebanese Cup, Nsouli and Hariri championships of 2003-2007. They also organized 2 training workshops. In June 2007 the Team was proclaimed ?The Most Organized Team? by the Student Life. In August 2007 three members of the team joined the Lebanese national team and participated in the World Kickboxing Championship, held in Karlsruhe, Germany.
