Student of the Year

The procedure for the election of the Student of the Year is as follows:
- In a special meeting the Clubs and Societies nominate their Clubs'/Societies' candidate/s for the election of the Student of the Year. This nomination is to be made in writing and handed to the SLC by the representatives.
- The nominees are interviewed by the SLO, and debated in the SLC, before a final list is recommended and prepared for election.
- A bulletin board is provided to each candidate to promote his/her image. There is full coverage of this process in the Haigazian Herald if possible.
- All HU current students are entitled to vote.
- Election takes place during the last week of Spring Semester. The official result is announced during the Awards Day.
- The name of the HU Student of the Year is inscribed on the HU Student of the Year Shield that decorates the entrance of the Philibosian Student Center.
- The Student of the Year is entitled to address the HU family during the Founder's Day Convocation. He/she automatically joins in the Town Hall ad hoc Committee.
- Disqualification of a candidate from the Student of the Year election may occur if the candidate violates the rules and regulations of the University or acts in a manner unbefitting this post.
To be eligible for candidacy for Student of the Year a student should:
- Have accomplished a full academic year.
- Have a cumulative average of 75 or above.
- Have been actively involved in any two Clubs.
- Participate in other activities and events.
- Have no disciplinary record.
- Have commitment, which goes beyond the call of duty, have zeal, individuality and firm character, and be sociable and well behaved on campus and in life.
