The launching of the proceedings of four conferences organized by the Haigazian University-based Armenian Diaspora Research Center (ADRC) was held on November 29 at the round hall of the Academy of Sciences, hosted and organized by the Oriental Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Republic of Armenia.
Member of the National Academy of Sciences and the secretary of its Armenian and Social Studies section Dr. Yuri Souvarian welcomed the audience, highly appreciated the role and mission of the Haigazian University and invited Haigazian University president Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian to address the public. Next, Dr. Robert Ghazarian, director of the Oriental Institute underlined the value treasured in these published volumes, namely Armenians of Lebanon, Armenians of Syria, Armenians of Jordan and Armenians of Iraq. Dr. Lilit Harutunian, head of the Arabic Section of the Institute, researcher Dr. Arax Pashayan and AMAA Executive Director Zaven Khandjian stressed the importance of the work done. Dr. Antranik Dakessian, director of the ADRC briefed the audience on the achievements of the center, while the representative of the Office of the High Commissioner of Diaspora Affairs, historian Hovhannes Alexanian appreciated the work done. Drs. Hagop Cholakian and Seta Ohannessian as well as Ara Ashjian, Bedros Tovmassian and journalist Sako Arian gave their testimonies on these high-ranking and unprecedented conferences.
