“Dealing with the past: Memory for the Future” project implemented by @OHCHR_MENA, under the #PeaceBuilding Fund.

On October 29, 2021, Haigazian University organized a seminar on the topic Dealing with the Past, Memory for the Future, initiated by its project funded by the United Nations Human Rights Regional Office for the Middle East and North Africa and the UN Peace Building Fund.

During this seminar, the Human Rights Club students presented the Lebanese Law 105 on Enforced Disappearance, the Writing Center presented the essays of eights students who were selected to write on this subject; the English Department students presented their research on the impact of the Civil War on women in particular and on the literature of the disappeared. The political science department outlined the main survey questions conducted among universities on the “Mindset of Students in Lebanon” and finally the abstracts of two MA theses in Clinical Psychology on the trauma of the war were presented.

The seminar was attended by the President of the university, representatives from OHCHR, faculty and students and was directly transmitted online.
