This second volume constitutes the proceedings of the third part of the conference on the Armenians of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia, organized by the Armenian Diaspora Research Center and convened in Cairo on April 12-13 and in Beirut on May 29-30, 2018.

The volume includes the six research papers presented during the conference. Also, in this volume are an additional four papers on Ethiopian-Armenian and Sudanese-Armenian history, culture, schools, outstanding figures, economy, and Armenians’ contributions to the Ethiopian and Sudanese states.

The appendix includes individual stories, accounts and memoires of Armenians who lived there or experienced a part of their lives in those countries, a number of newspaper clippings/reports on these two communities as well as documents and photos from both communities.

The book includes research on the constitutions of these two countries and their provisions on minorities’ rights, the Armenian travelogues and their publications on Ethiopia, two extensive and complementing research papers on the Armenian community of Ethiopia, two complementing brief accounts on Armenians of Sudan in the 19th and 20th centuries, Armenian outstanding figures in both countries, the microhistories of the AGBU chapters in both countries, an analytical study on the depopulation of the Armenian communities of both Sudan and Ethiopia.

The book ends with an index, a brief biography of the contributors, two summaries of the history on Ethiopia and Sudan, two short overviews on the Armenian communities of Sudan and Ethiopia, a short bibliography of books on Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia, and a list of volumes published by HU Press.

The book is the seventh volume published by the ADRC and the sixth in the series that shed light on the Armenian communities of the Middle East.
