BIO

Annie Tortian is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics, Haigazian University. She teaches courses in finance and economics, both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. She is a graduate of the American University of Beirut with a B.A. in Economics, and of the Lebanese American University with an MBA (Finance). She received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Paris 1-Panthéon-Sorbonne, with high distinction and citation of examining committee; title of doctoral dissertation: “International Investment Agreements and their Impact on Foreign Direct Investment: Evidence from Four Emerging Central European Countries”.
Dr. Tortian has attended and presented academic papers at peer-reviewed academic conferences. Her recent academic presentations were at: American University of Armenia, Yerevan, Armenia (October 2012), American University of Rome, Rome, Italy (November 2012), American University of Sharjah, U.A.E. (May 2013), American University of Beirut (December 2013). She was the recipient of the Grigor Artsruni Award for her research paper presented at the Armenian Economic Association 2012 Annual Meeting; paper title: “The Impact of Bilateral Investment Treaties and Financial Development on Foreign Direct Investment: Evidence from Eurasia”. Among the international economic conferences which she has participated in and attended is the UNCTAD Public Symposium (June 2013) in Geneva, Switzerland, having as main theme: “New Economic Approaches for a Coherent Post-2015 Agenda”. Her most recent publications have appeared in The International Journal of Arts and Sciences, and the International Journal of Economics and Finance.
