President’s Letter to the Graduating Class

Jun, 29

Dear graduating students,

With my sincere greetings to all, I first extend to you a word of congratulations for having completed an academic journey that will be remembered throughout your lifetime. You have completed the journey successfully, even though the final part of it was most challenging for all. You certainly learnt more than what your curriculum, even what the extra-curricular program would have taught you otherwise.

While we pray for the best in your steps beyond graduation, and we keep our dear Lebanon in our heart, we would wish you long years of success in whatever endeavors or careers you may find yourself in.

On June 5, the original date of your graduation, we had planned for a major ceremony in the presence of a large number of family members, supporters, Board members and dignitaries from overseas and Lebanon. The year 2020 being our 65th anniversary, we had also planned for a dozen activities, banquets, reunions and more. While all events were canceled or indefinitely postponed, we are glad that our social media took the opportunity to celebrate the successes of many of our alumni, an effort that will continue at least till the end of the calendar year. If we find it possible, we will organize a few anniversary celebrations next Fall in Lebanon and/or abroad.

Now, the main news to share with you is that after careful deliberation, and Lord willing, your graduation will be planned to take place on campus over two evenings at 7PM, and each of you will be allowed to invite two dear persons to you, and all the necessary precautionary measures will be taken.

• Wednesday, September 9, 2020: School of Business Administration & Economics.
• Thursday, September 10, 2020: School of Arts & Sciences.

Naturally, in case the health conditions in the country render holding public events impossible these plans will be revised, as safety remains to be a priority.

All the necessary details related to your participation in the Commencement will be communicated to you by the Registrar’s Office in due time. Moreover, starting July 15th your diplomas and transcripts will be ready, and again, you will receive specific instructions about that soon.

We look forward to celebrating with you this important milestone, and I pray that you and your dear ones will stay well, till we meet.
