On Thursday, March 7, 2024, Lebanese Caretaker Minister of Information Ziad Makary made a courtesy visit to Haigazian University, accompanied by university alumnus Michel De Chadarevian.
During his visit, Makary met with University President Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, senior administrators, faculty members, and a number of students. He also toured the campus that was bustling at noon with an active student body, and made quick visits to the Derian Library and the Heritage Building.
Makary commended Haigazian University’s reputation and its rigorous academic programs, highlighting the importance of human resources, particularly in light of the country’s economic, social, and security challenges leading to migration waves. He emphasized the need for collaboration between the private and public sectors, welcoming the collaboration between Haigazian and the Ministry.
President Haidostian shared Haigazian University’s commitment to fostering a positive and constructive culture, promoting Lebanese values of openness, tolerance, and ethics. He underscored the potential for collaboration with the Ministry, particularly in the fields of press and publications. Additionally, he presented the Minister with two volumes of HU Press publications, including “On the Records” by author Roupen Avsharian.
