In a significant milestone for academic research and digitization, Haigazian University officially launched the HU Repository, a comprehensive digital archive designed to preserve and showcase the University’s scholarly output. The launch event took place at the Derian Armenological Library and was attended by faculty, staff, and distinguished scholars from various academic disciplines.
The HU Repository is the result of a year-long collaborative initiative aimed at consolidating the intellectual contributions of the University under a centralized, easily accessible digital platform. The project was spearheaded by Mr. Vahe Ghorghorian, Assistant ITS Manager, who developed the digital infrastructure for the repository, in close coordination with Mr. Arthur Shenian, Library Administrator, who undertook the extensive work of compiling and uploading the University’s archives.
The event was opened by Dr. Antranig Dakessian, Editor of the Haigazian Armenological Review (HAR), who underscored the Repository’s critical role in enhancing the visibility of the University’s research, particularly in fulfilling the criteria for inclusion in major academic indexing platforms such as Scopus. He also highlighted the broader significance of the repository in strengthening the culture of research and academic rigor within the institution.
In his remarks, Mr. Shenian elaborated on the repository’s function as a living archive, dedicated to the digitization and preservation of knowledge for future generations. He introduced the range of scholarly materials now available in the Repository, including the full volumes of the Haigazian Armenological Review (1970–2024), books published by HU Press, conference proceedings, and master’s theses in fields such as Business, Psychology, and Education. Each item is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), ensuring reliable citation and global discoverability.
Closing the event, Rev. Dr. Paul Haidostian, President of Haigazian University, reflected on the academic vision behind the initiative, describing the Repository as a vital resource that reinforces the University’s commitment to knowledge dissemination, research excellence, and cultural heritage. “The HU Repository is more than a digital archive—it is a statement of our intellectual mission and a bridge between past scholarship and future inquiry,” he remarked.
The HU Repository is publicly accessible and designed to evolve, with ongoing efforts to expand its holdings and include new scholarly content as it becomes available. It stands as a testament to Haigazian University’s dedication to open access and the enduring value of academic preservation.
