In celebration of its 70th anniversary, Haigazian University hosted a distinguished public lecture titled “Education and Identity Formation in the Diaspora Context” on Monday, May 12, 2025. The event took place at the Belekdanian Hall in Heliopolis, Cairo, in collaboration with the Armenian Diocese of Egypt.
The lecture was delivered by Dr. Shaghig Kandaharian-Hudaverdian, esteemed faculty member at Haigazian University, whose work explores the intersection of education and cultural identity. Drawing on historical perspectives and contemporary insights, Dr. Kandaharian-Hudaverdian addressed the critical role of educational institutions in shaping identity within diaspora communities.
The event was graced by the presence of His Grace Bishop Ashot Mnatsakanyan, who offered opening remarks highlighting the enduring partnership between the Armenian Diocese of Egypt and Haigazian University in promoting education and preserving cultural heritage. Attendees included members of the clergy, leading intellectuals, educators, community leaders, Haigazian University alumni, and students, creating a vibrant forum for dialogue and reflection.
This commemorative lecture is part of a series of events organized throughout the year to mark Haigazian University’s seven decades of academic excellence and community engagement across Lebanon, the Armenian diaspora and the broader Middle East.
