Prof. Sima A. Hamadeh, Full Professor of Public Health Nutrition–Media & Communication and Program Coordinator of Nutrition & Dietary Sciences at Haigazian University, made a significant academic contribution to the International Conference on Advancing Sustainable Futures (ICASF25), held on 10–11 December 2025 at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi.
ICASF25 provided a distinguished international platform where science, policy, knowledge, and practice converged under the overarching theme “Shaping the Future: Synergies Between Nature, Technology, and Society.” The conference brought together leading scholars, policymakers, practitioners, and innovators to address complex global challenges through interdisciplinary and integrative approaches.
As a Haigazian University affiliate, Prof. Hamadeh assumed three major leadership roles that reflect her expertise and international standing in public health nutrition, communication, and sustainable food systems.
First, she served as a Member of the International Scientific Committee, contributing to the strategic scientific vision of the conference. In this capacity, she supported the development of a high-impact, interdisciplinary program that bridged diverse domains, including science, health and nutrition, business and economics, strategic communication, education, engineering, and emerging technologies.
Second, Prof. Hamadeh chaired a dedicated conference track titled “Advancing Health, Nutrition, and Well-Being in a Sustainable Society.” Through this role, she curated and guided scholarly dialogue among international experts, researchers, innovators, and policymakers, fostering evidence-based and holistic discussions aimed at advancing sustainable and equitable health and nutrition solutions.
Third, Prof. Hamadeh served as Editor-in-Chief of the Special Issue on “AI and Food Systems” for the Global Smart Food Systems (GSFS) journal, a Gold Open Access journal published by Emerald (UK). In collaboration with Special Guest Editor Dr. Ashley Love, she will be leading an academic initiative examining the transformative role of artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and smart technologies in food systems, governance, public health, and sustainability.
Through these integrated roles, Prof. Hamadeh actively contributed to critical global conversations shaping the future of sustainable, smart, healthy, and equitable societies. Her participation at ICASF25 underscores Haigazian University’s commitment to academic excellence, interdisciplinary research, and meaningful engagement in international initiatives addressing pressing global challenges.
