On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the Computer Science Department at Haigazian University proudly announced the successful completion of the Programming Contest for High School Students (PCHSS) 2026, a distinguished academic initiative that has become an annual tradition within the Department. Designed to empower talented secondary school students, the program introduces participants to the dynamic fields of computer science and technology while fostering innovation, analytical thinking, and digital creativity.
This year’s edition brought together 21 exceptional students representing 11 schools from across Lebanon. Participants engaged in a comprehensive week-long program featuring structured training sessions in HTML, Microsoft Access, and Python programming. The initiative culminated in a final competition, where students demonstrated their acquired knowledge and practical skills through a timed, hands-on assessment.
Following a rigorous evaluation process, the top three performers were recognized for their outstanding achievements:
• First Place: Manuel Hagopian (Yeghishe Manoukian College)
• Second Place: Jean Pierre Vartanian (Collège Mesrobian des Arméniens Catholiques)
• Third Place: Patricia Sarieddine (International School of Choueifat)
Mr. Shant Estepan, Coordinator of the Computer Science Department, highlighted the broader significance of the initiative, stating: “PCHSS is more than a competition—it is a journey that allows students to discover their potential, build confidence, and take their first steps into the world of Computer Science. Observing their growth throughout the program reaffirms our belief that Lebanon’s future is strengthened through education, perseverance, and innovation.”
In recognition of their accomplishments, the top three winners were awarded academic scholarships to Haigazian University. The first-place winner received a 50% scholarship, while the second- and third-place winners were each granted 40% scholarships, underscoring the University’s commitment to nurturing academic excellence and supporting future studies in computer science.
The Department also extends its sincere appreciation to NINJACO for its generous sponsorship, which included the provision of gift cellphones awarded to the top three winners. Additionally, participants ranked from fourth to fifteenth place received special vouchers covering 50% of selected training programs at NINJACO, offering continued opportunities for skill development and professional growth.
Through initiatives such as PCHSS, Haigazian University reaffirms its dedication to cultivating emerging talent and contributing to the advancement of technological education in Lebanon.
