Bank BEMO and Haigazian University Strengthen Academic Collaboration Through Case Study Internship Program Redesign Initiative

As part of the ongoing academic collaboration between Bank BEMO and Haigazian University a practical case study exercise was successfully conducted within the framework of the Training and Development course taught by Dr. Sarkis Karageuzian.

The initiative engaged Human Resources students in a real-world organizational challenge focused on redesigning Bank BEMO’s Summer Internship Program. The project aimed to provide students with an opportunity to apply academic concepts to practical business needs while contributing innovative perspectives to talent development practices within the banking sector.

Throughout the exercise, participants critically assessed the Bank’s existing internship framework and developed proposals for a more structured, scalable, and student-centered program. Their recommendations addressed key areas including talent sourcing, onboarding processes, training and development pathways, and performance evaluation mechanisms. Each proposal was supported by implementation roadmaps and measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reflecting a high level of analytical and strategic thinking.

The collaboration successfully combined academic rigor with industry expectations, enabling students to strengthen their competencies in research, problem-solving, leadership, and decision-making. The initiative also reinforced the importance of experiential learning in preparing students for professional environments and aligning academic outcomes with market needs.

In recognition of their outstanding performance, selected participants were offered internship opportunities at Bank BEMO, further underscoring the institution’s commitment to nurturing future talent and bridging the gap between education and professional practice.

At the conclusion of the program, certificates of completion were awarded by Bank BEMO to participating students. In addition, an appreciation shield was presented to Dr. Riad B. Obegi, who delivered an inspiring address emphasizing the value of continuous learning, professional growth, and lifelong development.

This initiative reflects the shared commitment of Bank BEMO and Haigazian University to fostering meaningful academia-industry partnerships that empower students with practical knowledge and professional readiness.
