Inspiring Young Scouts Through Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Workshop

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the Computer Science Department at Haigazian University, with the support of the Computer Science Student Society (CS3) and Haigazian University alumni, successfully hosted a Robotics Training and Artificial Intelligence Information Session for 35 scouts, aged 11 to 15, from the Lebanese Scouts Association – Beirut III (B3).

Designed to introduce participants to the rapidly evolving fields of robotics and artificial intelligence, the interactive workshop combined informative presentations with engaging, hands-on learning experiences. Working collaboratively in teams, the scouts assembled and programmed Arduino-based robotic systems equipped with sensors, gaining practical insight into the integration of hardware and software to address real-world challenges.

The workshop was supervised by Mr. Shant Estepan, Coordinator of the Division of Mathematical Sciences, and delivered by members of the Computer Science Student Society (CS3) alongside Haigazian University alumni. Their collective expertise and dedication underscored the University’s ongoing commitment to innovation, community outreach, and experiential education.

Beyond developing foundational technical skills, the initiative sought to cultivate creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving among participants. By providing early exposure to emerging technologies, the workshop encouraged young learners to explore future opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), while fostering curiosity, confidence, and a passion for lifelong learning.

Through initiatives such as this, Haigazian University continues to strengthen its role as a catalyst for educational excellence and community engagement, empowering the next generation with the knowledge and inspiration to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
