BIO
Arax Tanelian is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Natural Sciences. She received her PhD in Immunology & Microbiology from New York Medical College, where she also completed her postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Her research explores sex-specific mechanisms of susceptibility and resilience to stress-related disorders, such as PTSD and anxiety, with a focus on microbiome–brain interactions and neuropeptide signaling. Dr. Tanelian has supervised Master’s theses, lectured in courses, and trained students in laboratory research at both New York Medical College and the American University of Beirut. She has authored peer-reviewed publications, presented her work at national and international conferences, and received institutional and international awards recognizing her doctoral work. At Haigazian, she teaches Molecular Biology and Diagnostics, Immunology, and General Biology, emphasizing both a strong foundation in biological sciences and the development of practical skills for advanced study.
