Dr. Sima Hamadeh is Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition Sciences and Dietetics. Her interests lie in such areas as dietary motivations and behaviors; the communities’ dietary practices; the evolution of diets through the content analysis of written documents (e.g., magazines); the epidemiology of obesity especially among youth; health promotion and education; health and communication policies; as well as innovative qualitative approaches (e.g., content analysis, publicity).
She works closely with different national ministries and organizations, and international institutions in projects, seminars, research and community programs. Besides her academic experiences, she is a peer reviewer and has several publications in international refereed journals and a book related to: the evolution of nutrition, food choice motivations, and the epidemiology of obesity in children and adolescents. In recent years she has provided many oral communications on nutrition and health in national and international congresses. Dr. Hamadeh is also a former member of several executive international Scientific Committees and Associations.
Her M.Sc. research article was awarded the “Emerald literati Network Awards for Excellence 2009 “ and her Ph.D. thesis was awarded the “Prix d’Excellence Scientifique Franco-Libanais 2015” for the outstanding research project from the Société des Membres de la Légion d’Honneur au Liban & the French Embassy in Lebanon.
