Borrowing from the Library

To facilitate the smooth circulation of books and related material, the following rules and regulations are formulated.

Students, faculty and staff must present their corresponding Haigazian ID cards to borrow library material.

General Circulation

Students
Undergraduates may borrow a maximum of 5 books for a period of two weeks (renewable).

Graduates may borrow a maximum of 10 books for a period of two weeks (renewable).

Faculty
Full timers may borrow a maximum of 20 books for 1 semester (renewable).

Part timers may borrow a maximum of 10 books for 1 semester (renewable).

Staff
Staff may borrow a maximum of 5 books for a period of 1 month (renewable).

Fine

The fine for an overdue book item is 50,000 LL/item/day, weekends and holidays are counted out. Lost books incur 150% of the list price of the book. Overdue notices may be sent either via phone or e-mail.

A borrower who has overdue material or an unpaid fine will be banned from borrowing privileges until cleared.

Building-Use Items

Reference books, bound periodicals, newspapers, theses, closed circulation items and rare books are to be used in the library only.

Audiovisual Material (videos, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, microfiches)

Full time faculty can borrow 10 items for a period of two weeks (renewable). Part time faculty can borrow 5 items for a period of two weeks (renewable).

Journals /Magazines

Faculty can borrow journals for a period of 5 days.

Maps

Faculty can check out maps for a period of two weeks (renewable).

Alumni

Alumni may borrow books from the libraries upon presenting their HU library cards which may be obtained from the librarian by paying 75USD (refundable).
Alumni may borrow 2 books simultaneously from both libraries for a period of one month (renewable). The fine for an overdue book item is 50,000 LL/item/day. Alumni may benefit from online resources on campus only.

Registered Users

Researchers, not affiliated with Haigazian University, who wish to benefit from the libraries’ resources should present their requests to the librarian and if accepted, must fill out an application form. If applicable, a document by their corresponding university must be presented. Registered users may benefit from the library resources in-house only.
